The consortium received in total 32 tenders by the time SILVER call was closed yesterday, on the 12th of June. All tenders are reviewed by a selected panel of experts within two weeks time. Each tender is assessed by five experts with knowledge of elderly care, robotics and/or general business knowledge. Based on the experts’ assessments, a preliminary ranking of the tenders is made. This ranking will be inspected and reviewed by a decision panel which will make the final decision on which tenderers are to be awarded contracts. The assessment criteria can be viewed from the SILVER Invitation to Tender.
On the 30th of May 2013, the first European Forum for Public Procurement of healthcare Innovation was held in Paris. For the first time at European level, a dialogue was created between public purchasers in the healthcare sector and representatives from the industry and innovation specialized bodies. The goal of the event was to promote and recognize the fact that innovative products and services contribute to the healthcare sector performance. Carla Dekker, National Coordinator for SILVER in the Netherlands, held a presentation over the SILVER project and the next steps of the PCP process with over 150 participants listening. On the 1st of March, an international PCP has been opened to acquire robotics based technologies that support independent living for the elderly. When the call is closed on the 12th of June 2013, the PCP process will be executed in three phases, ending in March 2016. The result will be two to three prototypes to be tested in all partnering countries. To view the SILVER Invitation to Tender and Challenge Brief documents, visit registration page.
The output of the market consultation gave a full insight into the current state of the art of robotics. It allowed contributors to give feedback on how our current robotics definition could perhaps be modified making the SILVER desired outcome clearer. Additional feedback also allowed the consortia to take into account comments regarding the number of prototypes that would be created for testing through the final phase. It was indicated by those who participated that the budget for a SILVER solution was adequate. View the Market Consultation Outcomes document from here.
At the moment, the SILVER consortium is preparing a PCP challenge. An essential part of this process is to carry out a European-wide market consultation. With the market consultation, the consortium collects insights into the market; the state of the art and future developments of robotics in elderly care, in order to prepare an adequate procurement with the right and feasible scope. Therefore, all companies in the EU are invited to participate in this process and share their knowledge via the online questionnaire by 31 October 2012. Read more
